During this course you will learn…
You will develop the skills and knowledge though completion of a Skills for Work (SfW) National Subject in Automotive Skills as well as working closely with an employer.
You will learn about and complete units in the following areas:
- The Car
- The Garage
- The Technician
- Vehicle modification
- Work based challenge
Automotive covers a range of jobs, like:
- Light motor vehicle technician
- Heavy motor vehicle technician
- Auto electrical technician
- Roadside assistance engineer
- Parts distribution operative
The Automotive Foundation Apprenticeship will teach you about the car and transport industry. You may want to choose this course if you are interested one day becoming a mechanic, an engineer, selling cars or parts, or just want to learn more about the industry. Automotive jobs involve using exciting new technology and are vital to Scotland.
The automotive industry contributes greatly to the Scottish economy and offers a wide range of careers and development opportunities for all.

This course may be delivered by Aberdeenshire Council Specialist FA Trainers or in conjunction with a local external provider.

Your Foundation Apprenticeship will also help you to develop core skills valued by employers, particularly:

These transferable skills are necessary and highly desirable for working in a range of other related jobs.
